Share information to support parents to claim a badge for their child via Open Badge Factory.
Issuing badges to children under the age of 13 requires consent from a parent / guardian.
If you deliver activities on behalf of other organisations (e.g. workshops in schools), gaining this consent can be tricky as you might not have an opportunity to communicate with parents.
For these activities, we recommend that you issue badges via a badge application with claim code and send earners home with a flyer detailing how to get the badge. This removes the need for you to gather consent to process personal data. We have simple and detailed flyer templates available for you to download.
When sending flyers home with children aged under 13, we also recommend including information to support parents to make their choice and how to get the badge for their child.
