Logo Requirements for Badge Visuals

Find out more about logo requirements for badge visuals.

Supporting you to make clear and recognisable badge visuals is part of our Quality Assurance and Publishing process. Please read on to learn about supported file formats and best practice for supplying logo files for badge visuals.

File formats

Uploading to Badge Zone:

  • A high-quality PNG file with transparent background is recommended.
  • Large JPEG images can also be used if they are high quality.

Do not upload a file that isn't an image to the Badge Zone. This causes a critical error on your badge and will prevent the badge writing form from working properly.

Sending via email:

If sending logos to us via email, we also welcome EPS format images, which are designed to be scaled and used in high-quality image design and printing, making them very suitable for use in badge visuals.

What not to use:

JPEGs or other file formats saved from the following locations are often poor quality and lead to issues when creating visuals:

  • Email signatures
  • Word documents
  • Google searches
  • Website icons

If we are supplied assets from these locations, we will often be unable to create your visuals and will need to get in touch to gather alternatives which can delay publishing on your badge.

Best practice

Logos with transparent backgrounds look best on badge visuals as they are less likely to interfere with other elements. Transparent backgrounds also mean that images are less likely to be distorted should the image need to be manipulated, e.g. when removing a block background.

Please only supply logo files direct from your organisation’s approved brand assets. If you are supplying a logo on behalf of another organisation or are requesting dual branding for a partnership badge, ensure this has been gathered with their distinct permission and that you notify us if they will need to sign off a mock up of your badge visual ahead of publishing.

Rather than creating a new design for each individual badge, we recommend using a set of organisational visuals templates at each layer of the Badge Standard. This makes your collection of badges consistent and recognisable, and saves you time when writing each new badge.

Please see Badge Standard Visual Templates for more information on support available.
