Why aren’t all my organisation’s badges appearing in the Badge Zone?

Missing some badges? Find out more here.

The Badge Zone contains our badge writing platform and enables you to write badges, submit them for Quality Assurance, and collaborate on badges with other members of your organisation.

In terms of publishing new badges, this platform is a one-way system. You provide the metadata for your badge, and we publish it to your organisation’s issuing platform of choice – either manually or via automated API depending on which issuing platform you use.

The Badge Zone is not synchronised with these issuing platforms and does not receive information from them. Because of this, your ‘Badges’ page can only display badges that have been submitted via the Badge Zone, and you may find that not all the badges you have had published to an issuing platform are visible to you while viewing your ‘Badges’ page.

The most likely reasons for your organisation’s badges not appearing in the Badge Zone are:

They pre-date the Badge Zone
The Badge Zone’s badge writing facility was launched in spring 2023. If your badges were published before or around that time, they were likely written via our old Google Form systems and therefore never encountered the Badge Zone, so will not appear on your ‘Badges’ page.

If this sounds relevant to you don’t worry; any new badges you write in the Badge Zone will be published to your organisation’s existing issuing platform of choice. All badges will end up in the same place, your issuing process will remain the same, and you need not take any action.

Please note the above also applies for any badges written via Google Forms following spring 2023.

They were written and published on your behalf
If your badge was submitted to the system for you by an individual from a different organisation, or you have gained issuing platform access to a badge originally published by different organisation, these badges will not appear on your ‘Badges’ page.

If you believe a badge has been submitted by a different organisation on your behalf, please get in touch and we can work to link up your badges.

The original Badge Writer has terminated their Badge Zone account
If an individual that wrote badges for your organisation has terminated their account, this can break the link between the content they have submitted and your organisation on the Badge Zone. Don’t worry, the badges aren’t lost.

If this sounds relevant to you, please get in touch with us and we can work to link up your badges.
